WALTERS, Wayne H. - Of Flint, age 72, died Friday, April 15, 2011 at Avalon Hospice. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Visitation will be held Friday, April 29, 2011 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Avalon Hospice or American Cancer Society . Wayne was born in Flint on August 19, 1938, son of the late Mark and Verna (Reagan) Walters. He married Patricia Spice on May 26, 2002 and she preceded him in death on March 6, 2009. Mr. Walters earned his Bachelors Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and his Masters Degree from Eastern Michigan University. Wayne was a teacher for the Flint Community Schools for 36 years, retiring in 2000. Surviving are brother, Gerald and wife Suzanne Walters; niece, Ellen (Walters) and husband Greg Koellner; brother-in-law, Jim Stuberg and wife Dawn Rude; sister-in-law, Jean and husband Bob Holmes; and many valued friends.
